Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 Vidalia sweet onions
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of salt adjust according to preference
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 cup of Italian blend cheese finely shredded
  • 1 cup of cheddar cheese finely shredded
  • 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese finely shredded

Instructions
 

  • Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Slice the Onions: Clean and peel the Vidalia sweet onions. Slice them into rounds that are approximately ¼ inch in thickness. Separate the sliced rounds into individual onion rings.
  • Season the Onions: Arrange the separated onion rings uniformly across the base of the prepared baking dish. Season the onion rings evenly with salt, garlic powder, and oregano.
  • Add Butter and Cheeses: Cut the unsalted butter into roughly eight even portions or pats. Distribute these butter pats evenly across the seasoned onion rings. Sprinkle the Italian blend cheese and cheddar cheese over the onion rings, ensuring even coverage. Finish with a final topping of shredded parmesan cheese.
  • Bake: Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cheese has begun to brown and bubble.
  • Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and serve promptly while it remains warm.

Notes

    • For added flavor, consider adding crispy bacon bits or caramelized onions to the cheese layer.
    • Experiment with different cheese blends to suit your taste preferences.
