Equipment

  • Bowl
  • Deep-sided skillet
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare Dry Ingredients:

  • Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and salt and pepper to taste to a Ziploc bag. Close the bag and shake well to combine.

Coat Chicken:

  • Place 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut in half lengthwise into the Ziploc bag with the dry ingredients. Shake the bag to coat the chicken evenly with the flour mixture.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

  • In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, 2 large eggs, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce until well combined.

Dip and Coat Chicken Again:

  • Remove the coated chicken from the Ziploc bag and dip each piece into the egg mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Then, place the chicken back into the Ziploc bag to coat with the flour mixture once again.

Heat Oil:

  • Heat a few inches of cooking oil in a deep-sided skillet over medium-high heat on the stove until it reaches frying temperature.

Fry Chicken:

  • Carefully add the coated chicken to the heated skillet and fry evenly on both sides until golden brown and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F.

Drain and Serve:

  • Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Southern fried chicken!
