Homemade Caramel Toffee

Equipment

  • Thick-bottomed pan
  • Wooden spoon or heatproof spatula
  • Tray lined with butter paper
  • Knife

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cream
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter

Instructions
 

  • In a thick bottomed pan, take 2 cups of sugar.
  • Keep stirring on a low flame until the sugar melts.
  • Make sure to keep the flame on low and continue stirring to prevent the sugar from burning.
  • Once the sugar melts and turns golden brown, add 1 cup of cream and stir continuously.
  • Keep stirring until the caramelized sugar and cream are mixed well.
  • Now add 3 tablespoons of salted butter and mix well until the mixture turns glossy.
  • Immediately transfer the mixture to a tray lined with butter paper.
  • Tap the tray twice to remove any air bubbles.
  • Allow the caramel toffee to cool completely and rest for at least 5 hours to set completely.
  • Once set, cut the caramel toffee into pieces using a greased sharp knife.
  • Wrap each piece in butter paper to prevent sticking.

Notes

Use a thick-bottomed pan to prevent the caramel from burning.
Keep the flame on low while melting the sugar to prevent it from burning.
Stir continuously to ensure even caramelization.
Allow the caramel toffee to cool completely before cutting into pieces for clean edges.
Store the caramel toffee in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
